A Bloomberg, Villaraigosa Ticket?

0

We now know Michael Bloomberg is seriously considering a run for the presidency, the Downtown News reports. Is the New York City mayor planning to ask our mayor to join him on the ticket? Has he already asked?

The likelihood of Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa as a vice presidential candidate in 2008 has seemed so remote as to be silly, except to a handful of fervent supporters dismissed as having lost touch with reality. The 2009 governorship had been widely seen as the Democrat’s next goal. Probably achievable.

But what if Villaraigosa were not a Democrat? What if he changed party affiliations, as Bloomberg did two weeks ago? What if Villaraigosa, too, became an Independent, affiliated to neither major party? Well, then, the whole game could change. Never mind that he is one of Hillary Clinton’s four national campaign managers. This wouldn’t be the first time he has run two parallel agendas or betrayed a former political ally.
