Jacobs Lands Katrina Contract

Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. said Tuesday that it has received a contract from Louisiana to provide project management services for the Hurricane Katrina state military reconstruction program. The contract is worth a reported $460 million.

The federally funded program will replace state National Guard facilities destroyed last year by the hurricane and will consists of 15 design-build projects spread throughout the state.

The program includes approximately $200 million in new facilities at the Jackson Barracks in New Orleans, new readiness centers, barracks and headquarters buildings.


The remaining $260 million of the program involves constructing additional readiness centers, vehicle maintenance facilities and an Army aviation support facility at locations throughout the state.


Shares in Jacobs were down 47 cents to $89.78 in midday trading Tuesday.
