Hotel Rates Continue Rise

The average hotel room rate in Los Angeles County jumped 11 percent during November, from $132.27 to $146.79, according to PKF Consulting. Occupancy was up slightly to 75.5 percent from 73.7 percent a year ago.


The biggest room rate increases during the month were seen at two downtown areas, up 17 and 19 percent, followed by Beverly Hills, up 12.7 percent, and the area surrounding LAX, which rose 12.5 percent.


For the 11-month period from January to November of 2006, however, the downtown rate increases were among the county’s lowest at 3.5 percent at 8.6 percent. Hollywood room rates went up the most over the year at 20.2 percent.


Downtown also had the biggest jump in occupancy, up 22.5 percent.
