Walt Disney Co. released details of the company’s Web site redesign in a move to make the Burbank-based entertainment company more competitive with sites such as MySpace.com.

Disney’s Chief Executive Robert Iger showed some of the new features of the Web site during his keynote address at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. The new site will launch later this month.

The site includes personalized pages, games and chat rooms and will sell merchandise, DVDs, travel packages and theme-park tickets. It also will feature advanced parental controls.

Users will be able to create customized video clips using Disney programs and recording artists, but the company will not allow users post non-Disney material on their personal pages.

Shares in Disney were down 31 cents to $34.17 in midday trading Tuesday.
