Northrop Grumman Corp. said Monday that it has opened a new office in the United Kingdom to focus on advanced military and civilian technology.

The office in Fareham, Hampshire for its Mission Systems Europe subsidiary will include a state-of-the-art demonstration environment for planning, modeling and simulation of its advanced technology systems.

“After four years of successful growth in the U.K., we have taken the next step in our plan for continued expansion and invested in our most prestigious site to date in Europe,” said Northrop spokesman Paul Davison. “This new U.K. facility will enable us to offer a new portfolio of military and civil security products and services, increase our presence across Europe and serve our customers more effectively.”

Los Angeles-based Northrop has been expanding its European business. Last year it opened its Northrop Grumman UK Ltd. subsidiary in London to serve as the headquarters for it European operations. The company also operates five other locations in the U.K..

Shares in Northrop were up 56 cents to $74.56 in midday trading.
