ESPN, Verizon in Platform Deal

ESPN said Thursday that it has signed an exclusive multi-year agreement to deliver the shuttered ESPN mobile sports content to Verizon Wireless customers.

The deal will allow Verizon customers who sign up for the V Cast subscription to receive access to all of the ESPN content choices, including Mobile ESPN, the sports content application at the heart of the Mobile ESPN service. ESPN parent Walt Disney Co. shut down the service late last year due to lack of customer interest.

The Mobile ESPN application offers real-time sports news, scores and information, as well as alerts and video. Terms of the multi-year deal were not disclosed.
