Passion for Online Publishing Draws Frenchman to L.A.

Antoine Boulin, who is used to cramped spaces and crowded Parisian subways, finds Los Angles a welcome change.

“The city has got a great vibe,” Boulin says. “It’s refreshing to see palm trees and wide open spaces everywhere.”

Boulin is the new chief executive of TG Publishing LLC, which runs Web sites for retailers. And no matter how scenic Los Angeles could be, Boulin would not have left Paris if not for his passion for online publishing.

“I’ve always had a knack and interest for all things related to technology and the online world,” he said. “California is the place to be when it comes to the online industry.”

Boulin got his start in the technology publishing business in 1999 when he founded an online price comparison company, which was later sold to an online publishing company in France in 2002.

At TG, Boulin will be responsible for leading and growing the global organization to deliver high value to its readers, advertisers and alliance partners.

“I view my role as the catalyst to retain and attract A-list players and to inspire our employees to achieve even greater heights than they had dreamed was possible before,” he added.

Boulin underscores the importance and participation and contributions of the readers. He believes customer satisfaction is the most important factor in setting a firm’s course.

“Our readers are the heart of our business and their satisfaction is what drives our decisions,” Boulin said. “We have a robust community of active and vocal readers who express themselves in our forums. I enjoy reading what our audience has to say.”

Prior to his voyage to the United States, he was a member of the board and head of marketing for the shopping division of Lycos Europe, a pan-European network of Web sites, where his mission was to increase traffic to the company’s sites through innovative marketing techniques.

Boulin lives in Marina del Rey. He likes tennis, reading and politics.
