The Los Angeles Times saw declines in both daily as well as weekend readership, according to the latest data from the Audit Bureau of Circulations.

The paper, which was recently sold by the Tribune Co. to Chicago-based real estate billionaire Sam Zell, had an average paid Sunday circulation of 1,173,096, a 4.7 percent dip from a year ago, and a Monday-Friday circulation of 815,723, a 4.2 percent slide. The Times is still the second largest metro paper in terms of circulation, behind only the New York Times.

Also, the report said that while some papers, like the Wall Street Journal and USA Today, saw increases in circulation 15 out of the nation’s 20 largest newspapers experienced a drop. The report also said that the national average was a 2.1 percent decline in circulation.
