Staff reductions announced by Countrywide Financial Corp. this week will not affect its sales force or 4,000 to 5,000 employees overseas, a company spokesman said Wednesday, the Ventura County Star reports.

The Calabasas-based firm is analyzing how many workers will be affected in the 5 percent to 10 percent reductions it plans mainly in its administrative and general employee ranks, said spokesman Rick Simon.

The final number may not be known until after Jan. 1, but it is expected to include large contingents of temporary and contract workers who do not work full time for the country’s largest mortgage lender.
