OSI Systems Inc. reported a third quarter profit of $735,000 (4 cents per share), in the quarter ended June 30, a big improvement from a loss of $3.2 million (-20 cents) for the same period a year earlier. Results included stock-related expenses of $1.3 million (6 cents per share).

Revenue for the Hawthorn-based maker of security inspection systems and medical monitoring units rose 25 percent to $125.6 million mainly due to a 22 percent increase in sales for the company’s security division coupled with a 15 percent rise in sales from its healthcare division.

The company missed analysts’ earnings estimates of 7 cents per share on sales of $121 million. OSI dipped more than 5 percent in early trading Wednesday to $18.20 a share.
