The latest figures show that circulation at the Los Angeles Times decreased 8 percent in the six-month period ending in September. According to data from the Audit Bureau of Circulations, the Times lost almost 67,500 readers.

While the Times lost more readers than other major dailies, most reported drop-offs. The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal and USA Today the three dailies with circulation larger than the Times reported losses between 1.3 and 3.5 percent. Tribune Corp., owner of the Times, also had declines of 1.7 percent at its other major metro daily, the Chicago Tribune.

The L.A. Times’ average daily circulation now stands at 775,766, according to the ABC. That means that the paper’s average daily circulation has fallen nearly 30 percent from 1,111,784 in 2000, when the Tribune Co. purchased the paper.
