Avery Dennison Corp. said yesterday that the Justice Department has closed its investigation into alleged price-fixing in the label stock industry and no action will be taken against the company.

Pasadena-based Avery is one of the world’s largest makers of office products and adhesive labels. The investigation was initiated three years ago and claimed that Avery and other label-industry giants had engaged in discussions about label prices and had tried to limit competition by fixing prices. Avery denied the claims from the beginning of the investigation.

Shares in Avery added 62 cents in early trading Friday to $63.31.
