Tower’s fate Up in the Air

The Tower Records bankruptcy auction continued Friday, without word on the fate of the legendary West Sacramento music retailer.

The court-supervised auction, taking place at Tower’s law firm in Wilmington, Del., was in its second day. It started Thursday with a jolt when Radius Equity Partners, a Chicago investment firm that vowed to revive the ailing retailer, pulled out of the bidding after failing to line up the necessary financing.

That left only two bidders with an interest in keeping Tower going: Orchard Capital Corp., a Los Angeles investment firm, and Trans World Entertainment Corp., an East Coast music store chain.
