In less than two years, driving while using a cell phone will be illegal in California, unless it’s hands-free. But well ahead of the July 2008 deadline, both drivers and cell phone equipment makers say they’ll be ready, the Sacramento Bee reports.


The legislation will likely benefit cellular equipment makers, who could see a boost in business as millions of Californians adopt hands-free equipment. And technology improvements should make the requirement easier to swallow for millions of California drivers.
