Northrop Grumman Corp. is expanding its presence in Colorado, breaking ground Tuesday on the first building of a new campus in Colorado Springs.

According to the Los Angeles-based defense contractor, employees will be consolidated from eight existing buildings in the area into two buildings under construction. Los Angeles-based Lowe Enterprises is the developer of the new building.

Northrop shares closed up nearly $1.28 to $69.35 on Monday.
