Countrywide Expands Insurance Coverage

Countrywide Financial Corp. said it will begin to offer auto insurance coverage to consumers in four more states.


Countrywide, already the largest mortgage lender in the United States, began offering auto insurance in Arizona in September and added coverage to drivers in Nevada, Colorado, Illinois and Indiana, Monday, the company said.


Countrywide said it will offer discounts on coverage up to 23 percent to current customers and plans to offer auto coverage in 25 more states by the end of next year.


Shares in Countrywide were down $1.08 to $39.66 in early trading Monday.
