Iris International Inc. said Monday that it will file a five-day extension with the Securities and Exchange Commission because the company needs more time to file its third quarter results.

The Chatsworth-based urinalysis equipment maker said it will request the extension because it does not expect to complete the documents by the Nov. 9 deadline. The company said it will have its earnings ready Nov. 14.

Shares in Iris were closed down 8 cents to $10.66 but gained 10 cents during after-hour trading to

$10.76.
