Teledyne Technologies Inc. said Monday that it has been awarded a $47 million extension of its ground-based midcourse defense contract from Boeing Co.

The contract was originally awarded in 1998 and will have Teledyne Brown Engineering Inc., a subsidiary of the Los Angeles-based technology company, continue systems engineering and integration support for the ground-based system until December 2008.

Shares in Teledyne were down 8 cents to $39.20 in early trading Monday.
