Univision Communications Inc. said Wednesday that it has acquired the remaining 50 percent stake of Mexico-based Disa Records and Edimonsa Publishing.

The Los Angeles-based Spanish media company bought the remaining shares in the record company from the Chavez family of Monterrey, Mexico. The original 50 percent was purchased in June 2001, with a provision that the remaining shares be purchased in five years.

With this purchase Univision Music Group now has more than a 40 percent share of the Latin music market in the United States.

Disa Records will continue to operate as a separate label under UMG, similar to Fonovisa Records, Univision Records and La Calle Records. Edimonsa Publishing will be merged into the Univision Music Publishing companies.

Shares in Univision closed flat Wednesday at $35.05.
