Mike Rothenberg has joined Shoolery, a Hollywood-based print advertising and design firm as vice president of syndication for the company’s TV group. Rothenberg was previously senior vice president of television advertising at Kaleidoscope Creative Group.



Banking & Finance


Fiduciary Trust International of California has appointed Thomas H. Kenney as senior vice president of trust counsel and head of the trust department for its Los Angeles and San Mateo offices. Kenney was formerly vice president and senior trust and estate advisor at Wilmington Trust.


Greif & Co., a Los Angeles-based investment bank, has promoted Joel Montminy to managing director. Montminy retains his position as industry generalist.

American Business Bank has promoted Patricia A. Vollmer to regional vice president of the South Bay Region. Vollmer recently served as group manager for the company and is based in its Gardena office.

Dennis E. Gilkerson has joined Comerica Bank’s Beverly Hills office as senior vice president and Western market group manager. Gilkerson was previously managing director at First Republic Bank’s private banking group in Century City.



Chambers


The Westchester/ LAX-Marina del Rey Chamber of Commerce has promoted Christina Davis to executive director. Davis was recently director of the chamber’s member services and communications.


The Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce has named Kevin Cottrell vice president of leadership programs. Cottrell is also executive director of two chamber programs, Leadership L.A. and Southern California Leadership Network. Cottrell recently served as president of Lead San Diego, a community organization.



Education


Libby Gates Armintrout has been elected to the board of Pomona College. Armintrout currently serves as president of Lakeside School’s board of trustees.


The Pacific Basin Institute at Pomona College, a research foundation specializing in Pacific Rim nations, has selected Dru C. Gladney as president. Gladney currently is professor of Asian studies and anthropology at the University of Hawaii, Manoa.



Government


Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger has appointed Larry Zarian of Glendale to the California Transportation Commission. Zarian recently served on the board for

Metrolink.



Health Care


Torrance-based Radlink Inc., a provider of medical imaging systems, has named Daniel J. Valentino chief scientist and technology officer. Valentino was most recently associate professor and director of cerebrovascular hemodynamics research in the Division of Interventional Neuroradiology at UCLA.



Law


Pierce & Weiss LLP has named Rodney D. Kesner partner in the workers’ compensation department. The firm also hired Joan Bernstein as senior associate in the worker’s compensation department. Kesner previously was an associate with the firm and Bernstein was recently an associate at Goldman Magdalin & Krikes Los Angeles office. Eric A. Forstrom, David Kang, Ashley Richard Fickel, Julie R. Gosch, and Jeffry Karls were hired as junior associates. Forstrom graduated from the University of San Diego; Kang was formerly corporate counsel with Kyo Inc.; Fickel was a judicial extern to Lourdes G. Baird; Gosch was an associate at Munger Tolles & Olson; and Karls graduated from Southwestern School of Law.


Ellia Thompson has joined Jeffer Mangels Butler & Marmaro LLP as an associate in the government, land use and zoning, environmental and energy group. Thompson was formerly communications director for U.S. Rep. Louise Slaughter and press secretary for U.S. Rep. Jane Harman.


Meyers Nave, a full-service law firm, has made the following additions to the Los Angeles office: John Harris as principal, James Casso and Ruben Duran as counsel, and Catrina Archuleta as associate. Harris was principal and chair at Richards Watson & Gershon; Casso continues as city attorney for La Puente and Pico Rivera; Duran was formerly associate at Alvarez-Glasman & Colvin; and Archuleta was associate at Demetriou Del Guercio Springer & Francis.

Elizabeth Hinckley has joined Rogers & Cowan, an entertainment public relations and marketing firm, as senior vice president of the company’s new definitive culture division. Hinckley was owner and president of media relations and communications company Hinckley & Co.


InterQuantum LLC, a division of Inter/Media specializing in direct response clients and e-commerce services, has appointed Anthony Raissen as president and his wife Lauren Raissen as corporate operating officer. Anthony Raissen was formerly founder of Breath Asure and Lauren Raissen was a certified public accountant and president of Breath Asure.



Media


Fox Cable Networks’ business and legal affairs department has hired Tony Carey as vice president of production. Carey was previously vice president of production at Brad Grey Television.



Non-Profit


The Western Center on Law & Poverty has chosen Syd Whalley as executive director. Whalley currently serves as an advocate for the institute’s foster care benefits group.



Real Estate


Mark C. Raggio has joined Cushman & Wakefield’s Century City office as senior managing director of the company’s transaction consulting group. Raggio was formerly senior vice president at Trammel Crow Co. in Los Angeles.

Services


American Relocation & Logistics, a provider of relocation and warehousing services, has selected Joe Magill as general manager. Magill was previously vice president and general manager of Chipman Relocations in Santa Ana.



Technology


IT Service Management Forum USA, an information quality management association, has named James Prunty executive director. Prunty was recently executive vice president at the Los Angeles Institute of Real Estate Management.


Gamma Enterprise Technologies, a systems management firm in Woodland Hills, has named Allan Peters chief executive. Peters was previously vice president of enterprise sales at Symantec.


City Search, a local Internet search service, has appointed Scott Morrow as executive vice president of product and marketing. Morrow most recently was vice president for CNET Networks.


Kevin Ludden has been hired as vice president of industry relations for Interthinx, a provider of fraud protection for the mortgage trade. Ludden recently was lead investigator at Freddie Mac’s fraud investigation unit.


Technicolor Film Services has appointed Arthur W. Salyer senior vice president of worldwide film and cinema distribution services at its Burbank office. Salyer was previously executive vice president of worldwide operations at Trojan Battery Co.



Utilities


Stephen C. Held has been promoted to president of Southwest Water Co.’s Services Group. Held previously was regional vice president.

Hunt-Scanlon Advisors, a market research firm, has ranked L.A.-based Korn/Ferry International as the No. 1 U.S. Executive Search Firm and Los Angeles’ Morgan Samuels Co. at No. 24 in their seventh annual recruiting industry survey and rankings report.


Trademark Insider annual report has rated Greenberg Traurig LLP’s Los Angeles at No. 1 for trademark filings for 2004 and 2005. The report also ranked three Los Angeles attorneys among the top trademark filers in the U.S. for the fourth quarter: Susan L. Heller, partner at Greenberg Traurig LLP, No. 16; Scott W. Kelley, attorney at Woodland Hills-based Kelly Lowry & Kelley, No. 17; and John K. Fitzgerald, partner at Fulwider Patton’s Los Angeles office, No. 25.


Accruent Inc., a Santa Monica-based real estate management technology company, was named 2006 Developer of the Year by the Software Council of Southern California.


The California Chamber of Commerce has presented Don Lee, district manager of Farmers Insurance Group in El Segundo, an award as “2006 Small Business Advocate of the Year.”

The Blinn House Foundation has presented the Dr. Robert Winter Award to Sue Mossman, Pasadena Heritage executive director. Mossman was honored for her dedication to historic preservation and her leadership at Pasadena Heritage.
