Thomas W. Gilligan has been appointed dean of the University of Southern California’s Marshall School of Business just weeks after being named interim dean to succeed Yash Gupta, who resigned abruptly in February.

Gilligan served most recently as the vice dean of undergraduate and doctoral education at USC’s Marshall School. He previously served as chair of the department of finance and business economics. He joined the faculty in 1987 after working at the California Institute of Technology, Stanford University and Northwestern University.

USC Provost C. L. Max Nikias said Gupta would continue to hold his tenured position as professor of information and operations management at the Marshall School.
