Stocks Down on Intel Forecast

Stocks fluctuated before closing lower Friday after a Federal Reserve governor’s upbeat comments on inflation helped ease worries about a bleak forecast from Intel Corp. The major indexes finished mixed for the week.


The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 3.92, or 0.04 percent, to 11,021.59. The Standard & Poor’s 500 Index dropped 1.91, or 0.2 percent, to 1,287.23. The Nasdaq Composite Index lost 8.51, or 0.4 percent, to 2,302.60.

Local movers were led by SCPIE Holdings Inc., which gained 7.9 percent to $23.10, UTI Worldwide Inc., which rose 1.4 percent to $107.98, and CB Richard Ellis Group Inc., which climbed 1.9 percent to $73.68. On the down side, Keystone Automotive Industries Inc. fell 3.8 percent to $44.02, Ryland Group Inc. lost 2.3 percent to $68.43 and KB Home slipped 2.2 percent to $65.47.
