U.S. stocks ended sharply higher on Wednesday, with the Dow scoring a points gain in the triple digits and the Nasdaq up more than 1 percent, as strong earnings from two leading companies reassured investors about corporate profit growth.
The Dow Jones industrial average rose 103.02 points, or 0.94 percent, to end unofficially at 11,077.86. The Standard & Poor’s 500 Index gained 11.92 points, or 0.96 percent, to 1,252.04. The Nasdaq Composite Index gained 34.14 points, or 1.62 percent, to 2,141.20.
