L.A. Gas Prices Inch Down

The average retail price for a gallon of self-serve gasoline in the Los Angeles inched downward to $3.270 from $3.321 for the week ended June 12, according to the Energy Information Administration. Even with the 5-cent slide, gas remained 93 cents more expensive than it was a year ago.

Statewide, the average price was $3.225, down 4 cents from the previous week, but up 89 cents from a year ago.

Los Angeles gas was the most expensive of any major city in the nation. The cheapest gas of any major cities was in Cleveland, where the average price was $2.80.

California was the most expensive state in the U.S. for gas. The state with the lowest average price for gas was Texas, at $2.81.
