Bell Lands Contracts, Looks to Add Jobs

Bell Industries Inc. said it received new services contracts and estimated the new contracts will add about $30 million to its revenue in 2007 and about 500 new jobs within the next six months.

The El Segundo-based manufacturer of recreational equipment said in a statement it expects the contracts, received by its technology solutions division, to be fully operational by the end of 2006. This is good news for Bell, which has posted losses every year for the past five years and was recently rebuffed after three repeated attempts to purchase Morgan Hill-based competitor, Coast Distribution Systems Inc.

Shares of Bell have hovered between $2.50 and $3 a share since late last year.
