ValueClick Inc. has purchased online comparison shopping site Shopping.net for about $13.3 million in an effort to diversify its operations and expand its geographic presence, the Westlake Village company said Tuesday.

Shopping.net, based in London, operates 27 Web sites that provide comparison shopping, search and vertical market content to European customers, generating revenue from cost-per-click online advertising.

This is the online advertising and marketing firm’s second European online shopping acquisition after acquiring PriceRunner.com in 2004.

Shares in Valueclick closed up 63 cents to $24.64 Monday.
