Chain store sales rose in the first week of October, as consumers started shopping for fall apparel, a report said on Tuesday.
Sales in October to date were up 0.7 percent compared with the same span in September, while sales at major retailers rose by 3.2 percent on a year-over-year basis for the week ended Oct. 8, said Redbook Research, an independent company.
