, a City of Industry-based mall retailer, reported net income of $5 million (11 cents per diluted share) for the first quarter ended April 30, compared with $5.3 million (11 cents) for the like period a year earlier. Revenue rose to $149.8 million from $128.1 million for the year-ago period.


Analysts had expected earnings of 11 cents per share on revenue of $151.1 million.


At the end of the first quarter, the company operated 694 stores, including 87 Torrid stores, compared to 581 stores, including 52 Torrids, at the end of the same quarter last year.



– Hilton Hotels Corp.

bought 112 acres of undeveloped land on Hawaii’s Big Island from Waikoloa Development Co. for $65 million. Details of the Beverly Hills-based hotelier’s development plans for the land are still being determined and will be announced at a later date, the company said in a press release.





THQ Wireless Inc., a subsidiary of Calabasas Hills-based

THQ Inc.

, announced a publishing agreement with Mikoishi, a Singapore-based developer of network multiplayer games for mobile phones. The deal was announced at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3), now under way at the L.A. Convention Center. Under the terms of the agreement, THQ Wireless will add a number of multiplayer games to its existing portfolio. The games will be hosted from THQ’s data center in Phoenix. The first Mikoishi games will be released by THQ Wireless in summer. They include “Dead Lead,” “Metal Unit” and “Mag Racer.”





Egami Media Inc., a subsidiary of Chatsworth-based

Image Entertainment Inc.

, signed an agreement to distribute its video content through VCinema’s proprietary system. The content will be available via VCinema’s Digital Theater, a set-top box that integrates a high-speed broadband connection, a digital video recorder, and a downloadable video service. VCinema’s customers will be able to download Egami’s digital video content to rent or own. Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
