Robert H. King has joined City National Bank as senior vice president and manager of the metro Los Angeles region's commercial and private banking units. He was previously at Bank of America.
HSBC Bank USA N.A. has appointed Greg Foster as assistant vice president in the Southern California commercial banking division. Foster has worked with HSBC since 2001 as a lending officer in the New York commercial banking division.
Wedbush Morgan Securities has named Michael G. Gardner and Gary Wedbush co-heads of capital markets and Mark J. Salter head of investment banking. Gardner and Wedbush were promoted from senior vice presidents to executive vice presidents. Salter previously served as managing director of investment banking and head of technology investment banking at Wedbush.
Deloitte has appointed Ken August to lead its technology, media and telecommunications practice for the Pacific Southwest region. August most recently served as leader of the media and entertainment practice for the region.
First Consulting Group appointed Thomas A. Watford as senior vice president and chief financial officer on an interim basis of the Long Beach-based outsourcing, consulting and systems integration company. He has been with the company for eight years in multiple management roles.
Millennium Business Solutions Group Inc., a Westlake Village-based management, sales and marketing consulting company, has appointed Tim Phillips as senior executive business consultant. Phillips has worked as controller at distribution, retail and manufacturing companies.
Enova Systems, a Torrance-based developer and manufacturer of electric, hybrid and fuel cell digital power management systems, named Mike Staran director of marketing and sales. Staran was most recently president of Effective Solutions People LLC.
Directors of Unified Western Grocers Inc., a retailer-owned cooperative, elected Louis A. Amen chairman. Amen is president of Super A Foods Inc. of Los Angeles. Others elected to the board included John Berberian, president of L.A.-based Berberian Enterprise Inc.; Dieter Huckstein, president of hotel operations at Beverly Hills-based Hilton Hotels Corp.; Darioush Khaledi, chairman and chief executive of Carson-based K.V. Robert M. Swayze has been named manager of economic development for the City of Long Beach. Swayze was manager of economic development for the Community Development Commission of Los Angeles County.
Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger has named Stephanie Ferguson of Manhattan Beach to the state Veterinary Medical Board. Ferguson is the owner and operator of an in-home veterinary care service. Also, Jeff Hoffman of Long Beach, Anthony Thomopoulos of Los Angeles and Cynthia Sikes Yorkin of Los Angeles were named to the Service Corps Commission. Hoffman is vice president of Disney Worldwide Outreach, Thomopoulos is a founder and partner at Morning Light Productions and Yorkin is a volunteer for Coaches for Kids and the Los Angeles Child Development Center. Michael Jarvis of Los Angeles was appointed deputy director of communications for the Department of Forestry and Fire Protection. Jarvis was a freelancer for the Los Angeles Times and a documentary film producer. Marshall Grossman of Los Angeles has been appointed to the Commission on Judicial Performance. He is a senior partner at Alschuler Grossman Stein and Kahan LLP. Gerald "Jerry" Secundy of Pasadena has been appointed to the State Water Resources Control Board. He was previously consulting director for California Environmental Dialogue.
Karl Storz Endoscopy-America Inc., a medical video imaging company based in Culver City, has promoted Charles H. Wilhelm to president and chief operating officer. Wilhelm was previously executive vice president for operations at KSEA. The company also named Frances Ridlehoover as vice president for operations. Riddlehoover was chief operating officer for the UCLA Hospital System.
Robert Mahl has joined the brokerage firm of Andreini & Co. as vice president of property and casualty insurance. Mahl comes from Marsh, where he was senior client advisor in Southern California serving middle market companies.
Hillel Cohn has joined Morrison & Foerster as corporate securities partner in its corporate finance practice. Cohn was previously with Squire Sanders & Dempsey.
The Port of Los Angeles named Michael DiBernardo director of planning, managing the port's land use, facilities, maritime and trade research activities. DiBernardo was previously the port's assistant director of marketing.
Pacer Distribution Services, a South Gate-based logistics and freight transport provider, has named Jeff Lindner vice president of sales. Linder was director of business development for Exel Inc. The company also named Jose Tobias vice president of operations, and Clem Cleri vice president of PDS Trucking. Tobias was general operations manager for Syratech Inc., and Cleri was general manager of drayage for PDS.
