Oil Prices Fall Well Below Record

Crude futures plunged Tuesday, despite a key OPEC member saying the group was considering an increase of 500,000 barrels in its daily quota after a similar move last week.


Light, sweet crude for May delivery fell $1.43 to settle at $56.03 per barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange. In London, Brent crude for May delivery fell $1.06 to $54.59 on the International Petroleum Exchange.
