Warren Woo was appointed global head of financial sponsors of UBS Investment Bank and to serve on the UBS-IB board. Woo will continue to serve as a member of the IBD Americas executive committee and as vice chairman of IBD.

Rustic Canyon Partners named Shoa-Kai Liu senior advisor of the investment firm. Formerly, Liu served as director of network technology community at MCI.

Michael Opre was promoted to senior vice president and portfolio manager of Los Angeles-based Froley Revy Investment Co. Opre was previously a vice president and an analyst covering the financial, industrial, and material sectors.

Swinerton Management and Consulting appointed Samuel R. Ramirez as operations manager for its Los Angeles office. Ramirez was formerly an executive of business development at Turner Construction Co.

James R. Nahin has been named director of leasing at the L.A. Mart in downtown Los Angeles. Previously, Nahin was responsible for gift and home leasing at the California Market Center.

Catherine Showalter was named director of UCLA Extension's public policy program, which hosts the annual Arrowhead Public Policy and Research Symposium and the Land Use and Policy Conference in Los Angeles. Showalter most recently led the non-profit Rides for Bay Area Commuters Inc.

Fairmont Hotels & Resorts appointed Desmond Acheson general manager of Fairmont Miramar Hotel in Santa Monica. Acheson was previously the acting general manager of the property.

White & Co. Insurance Inc. named Zach Spann, Jeff Voorhees and Erin M. de Lucia CIC, vice presidents of commercial property and casualty. Formerly, Spann was a sales representative at the Auto Club of Southern California; Voorhees was previously a claims administrator for Integrated Claims Administrators; and de Lucia was a casualty claims examiner for Allstate Insurance.

Nate E. Akiva was named associate at the Los Angeles office of Pircher Nichols & Meeks, a national real estate law firm. Previously, Akiva worked as a management consultant in the field of supply chains, distribution and strategic sourcing. Also, Robert J. Cooper was appointed associate at the Los Angeles office of Pircher. Previously, Cooper was a research and teaching assistant in real estate transactions and finance at the University of Southern California.

Christopher J. Kondon was named partner at Kirkpatrick & Lockhart Nicholson Graham LLP's Los Angeles office.

Brown Winfield & Canzoneri Inc. named Steven Abram managing officer of its board. Abram formerly chaired the downtown Los Angeles law firm's transactional department.

Dulcie Brand has joined Pillsbury Winthrop as a partner in its Los Angeles office, to work with the firm's active corporate and securities practice. Formerly, Brand was a partner with Jones Day in corporate finance, restructuring and private equity matters.

John P. LeCrone was named partner in the Los Angeles office of Davis Wright Tremaine LLP, a business and litigation firm. Previously, he was a partner with Tatro Tekosky Sadwick Mendelson LLP.

Robert Cable was appointed public relations manager of the Los Angeles Opera. Cable was previously the public relations manager for the San Francisco Opera.

Bob Gold & Associates named Art Maulsby executive director of the firm. Before joining the public services and marketing services company headquartered in Torrance, Maulsby was director of corporate communications for TVN Entertainment Co.

Mitch Zamarin has been named to the newly created post of director of the entertainment division at Beverly Hills-based Asbury Communications Inc. He will be responsible for the company's projects involving feature films, TV, DVD and music releases, among other areas. He was formerly an East Coast-based publicist handling diverse fundraising, film and music projects.

The Elizabeth Center for Cancer Detection, a non-profit medical clinic in Los Angeles, appointed Cynthia V. Bradley director of fundraising and public relations. She was previously involved in various other non-profit organizations in Los Angeles and Pasadena.

Stanton "Larry" Stein was named to a two-year term on the board of the Foundation of the State Bar of California, a non-profit that supports law-related community projects. Stein is a name partner at Alschuler Grossman Stein & Kahan and also head of the firm's entertainment and media department.

Robert Half International has appointed Brandi Britton as vice president of the company's Los Angeles County region. Britton oversees the operations of the Westwood, downtown Los Angeles and LAX branches of the staffing service, which specializes in the accounting, finance and information technology fields. Britton was most recently branch manager for the company's Westwood office.

Real Estate
Kathy Klingele was named urban sales manager of The South Group of the Ryness Co., a developer of condominium projects in downtown Los Angeles. Klingele was most recently director of sales and marketing for CIM Group.

Macerich Co. promoted Skip Kuhn to vice president, real estate. Previously, Kuhn was a senior manager at the real estate investment trust headquartered in Santa Monica. Also, Macerich appointed Greg Millsap assistant manager for property management of the Lakewood Center. Millsap was previously store manager of the Robinsons-May branch at South Bay Galleria.

Robertson Properties Group appointed Gregory J. Swedelson vice president of acquisitions and leasing. Swedelson previously served as vice president and senior counsel at the Los Angeles-based real estate company, which specializes in the development and redevelopment of retail properties.

StarPoint Properties LLC has appointed David Brackett director of operations, based in the firm's Los Angeles office. StarPoint specializes in the acquisition, development and repositioning of multifamily and retail projects. Brackett was formerly the vice president for Oakwood Worldwide, a corporate housing and multi-family property management firm.

Nancy Misensol was promoted to regional vice president, overseeing Billy's Delicatessens' Glendale and Torrance locations and future acquisitions in Southern California. Misensol was the manager of the Torrance branch of the eatery before her promotion.

Joseph Centeno was named chef at Hollywood-based restaurant Meson G, the latest addition to the Domaine Restaurant Group. Previously, Centeno was a chef at Aubergine, a restaurant from the same group in Newport Beach.

William J. Chadwick was elected president of the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum Commission for 2005. Chadwick was previously the chair of the Exposition Park and California Science Center board.
