Gas prices rose in Los Angeles for the 10th consecutive week, according to data from the Energy Information Administration.

The average gallon of self-serve regular in the Los Angeles area was $2.353 for the week ended March 21, up from $2.329 the previous week. L.A. gas prices are 21 cents higher per gallon than they were just one year ago.

While L.A. had the highest per-gallon price, eight of the 10 cities surveyed had prices that were markedly higher than one year ago. The highest was Cleveland, where the March 21 price was 48 cents above last year’s.

The California statewide average was $2.312 per gallon for the week ended March 21, up from $2.287 in the prior week, and nearly 23 cents higher than one year earlier.

California remained the most expensive state in which to buy a gallon of gas, and Los Angeles was the most expensive city out of those surveyed. Only one city, Houston, in was under the $2 mark for the week.
