Former WorldCom Chief Ebbers Convicted of All Counts

Former WorldCom Inc. Chairman Bernard Ebbers, who built WorldCom from a humble Mississippi long-distance firm into the second-largest U.S. long- distance provider, was convicted Tuesday of directing an $11 billion fraud that triggered the largest bankruptcy in U.S. history.


A federal jury in Manhattan deliberated eight days before returning guilty verdicts on one count of conspiracy, one count of securities fraud and seven counts of false regulatory filings crimes carrying up to 85 years in prison.
