City National President Emphasizing Customer Service

The newly appointed president of City National Bank, Christopher J. Warmuth, is determined to make relationships and customer service a primary focus of the bank.

Warmuth, who has been the chief credit officer for the past three years, will also hold the title of executive vice president of Beverly Hills-based City National Corp., the bank’s holding company. He will be responsible for commercial and private banking, entertainment, real estate and branch banking activities.

Warmuth said he will focus on three areas: managing the products and structures that are delivered to clients, providing comprehensive services and being competitive on price.

As an example, Warmuth cited Treasury Net, the company’s online cash management service. He said it is essential to let clients know where their receipts stand on a daily and hourly basis.

Warmuth said people only think about loans and checking accounts when they think of banks, but that should not be the case.

“Banks are more than that,” he said. “They are about products like cash management services, foreign exchange and all sorts of trust and wealth management services.”

Warmuth is a second generation Angeleno who went to both undergraduate and graduate business school at USC.

He lives in Manhattan Beach with his wife and two children and likes to play golf when he has spare time.
