L.A Gas Prices Up for First Time in Two Months

Los Angeles-area gas prices rose by about 3 cents a gallon in the past week, the first weekly rise since mid-April, according to the Energy Information Administration.


The average gallon of self-serve regular in L.A. was $2.369 for the week ended June 20, up from $2.335 the previous week. Prices are 8.5 cents higher than year-ago levels.


Statewide, gas prices averaged $2.352 per gallon last week, a 2-cent rise. Statewide gas prices are about 9 cents higher than one year ago.


Prices in the Los Angeles area were the highest in the state, outpacing prices in the Bay Area for the first time in 11 weeks. Bay Area prices averaged to $2.365 a gallon last week, up one cent.


The lowest-priced state surveyed was Texas, at $2.075 per gallon, and the city with cheapest gas was Houston, at $2.038 per gallon.
