Oil Prices Fuel Exxon Mobil Profit

Exxon Mobil Corp. on Thursday said its profits surged 32 percent in the second quarter as it reaped the benefits of soaring oil and natural gas prices.


Net income for the second quarter rose to $7.6 billion ($1.20 per share) from $5.8 billion (88 cents) the year before. Excluding one-time items, earnings totaled $7.8 billion ($1.23 per share). The adjusted earnings just missed analysts’ expectations for profit of $1.24 per share.
