, a South Pasadena-based fingerprint identification systems provider, reported net income of $14.4 million (16 cents per diluted share) for the second quarter ended June 30, compared with $7.7 million (11 cents) for the like period a year earlier. Revenue rose to $39.4 million from $17.1 million in year-ago period.


The second quarter included a $1.6 million charge related to stock-based compensation. Excluding this item, net income was $15.7 million (17 cents per diluted share), compared to $11.3 million (12 cents) for the like period a year earlier.


- MRV Communications Inc. , a Chatsworth-based network equipment and services manufacturer, reported a net loss of $4.1 million (4 cents per diluted share) for the second quarter ended June 30, compared with a loss of $3.1 million (3 cents) for the like period a year earlier. Revenue fell to $64.6 million from $67.2 million in the comparable period of the prior year.


The company expects a third-quarter loss in the range of 4 cents to 5 cents per share on revenues of between $62 million to $66 million.


- IRIS International Inc. , a Chatsworth-based maker of diagnostic equipment, reported net income of $1.6 million (9 cents per diluted share) for the second quarter ended June 30, compared with $439,000 (3 cents) for the like period a year earlier. Revenue rose 51 percent to $15.6 million from $10.3 million in the comparable period of the prior year.


The company expects full-year earnings of 30 cents to 35 cents per share, and 2006 revenue in the range of $72 million to $76 million.


- Superior Industries International Inc. , a Van Nuys-based motor vehicle parts manufacturer, reported net income of $4.8 million (18 cents per diluted share) for the second quarter ended June 30, compared with $13.6 million (51 cents) for the like period a year earlier. Revenue fell 3 percent to $226.5 million from $233.7 million in the comparable period of the prior year.
