Oil Falls Amid Hurricane Forecasts

Oil prices fell by more than $2 a barrel Thursday, continuing a selloff that began the previous day after an international energy watchdog said demand growth in China is slower than expected.


Light sweet crude for August delivery declined by $2.21 to settle at $57.80 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange. Heating oil futures plunged 6.10 cents to $1.6569 per gallon on Nymex, where gasoline futures fell 6.9 cents to $1.685 per gallon. In London, Brent crude oil futures declined by 96 cents to settle at $57.31 a barrel on the International Petroleum Exchange.
