JibJab to Launch Animated Short to Coincide with Bush Inauguration

The latest online animated short by JibJab Media, the Santa Monica firm that created the widely viewed election-year shorts “This Land” and “Good to be in D.C.,” will debut Tuesday evening, two days before President Bush’s inauguration, exclusively on Yahoo’s movie portal.

In December, JibJab and Yahoo Inc. announced an online distribution agreement that gave the Web portal giant the rights to distribute two JibJab animated clips. The first, a musical video starring JibJab’s Grumpy Santa, launched in time for the holiday season.

Like the prior campaign shorts, “Second Term” lampoons Bush, conservatives, liberals, Hollywood activists and world leaders as they fight each other in Washington’s game of power and influence.

Formed in 1999 by brothers Gregg and Evan Spiridellis, JibJab gained notoriety for its first two shorts, which featured President Bush and Sen. John Kerry during the 2004 presidential campaign and were viewed online more than 80 million times.
