Ford Motor Co. has become the first car company to set up a talent agency whose sole purpose is to get its vehicles in movies and TV shows. The most recent deal was swung with the upcoming Ice Cube film “Are We There Yet?”

Independent filmmaker Al Uzielli, grandson of Henry Ford II, has been hired to run the enterprise and court Hollywood, acting as a casting agent for Ford’s line of cars. The in-house team is based in both Beverly Hills and Dearborn, Mich., Ford’s headquarters.

Ford said in a release that since the days of Henry Ford, it has understood the power of entertainment to drive brand awareness and sales. Film legends Mary Pickford and Laurel and Hardy appeared in films that featured Model Ts. Many decades later, the 2005 Mustang appeared Fox’s hit drama “The O.C.”

The Ice Cube road trip comedy features a fully loaded Navigator that Ford said is onscreen for 70 percent of the movie.
