L.A. Gas Prices Keep Moving Up

For the seventh week in a row, gas prices edged up in Los Angeles, according to data from the Energy Information Administration.


The average gallon of self-serve regular in the Los Angeles area was $2.216 for the week ended Feb. 28, gaining from the previous week’s $2.197. L.A. gas prices are 4 cents higher per gallon than they were one year ago.


The statewide average was $2.176 per gallon for the week ended Feb. 28, up from $2.150 in the prior week and nearly 7 cents higher than they were one year earlier.


California remained the most expensive state in which to buy a gallon of gas, and Los Angeles was the most expensive city out of the 10 surveyed. The only other city to break the $2 mark was San Francisco, at $2.139.
