Dollar Gains After Core Inflation Rise

The dollar gained against the euro on Friday after a report on U.S. producer prices showed an unexpected jump in core inflation, which could put pressure on the Federal Reserve to raise interest rates.


In midmorning New York trade, the euro initially fell to session lows around $1.3012, but then recovered to $1.3060, down roughly 0.1 percent from late levels on Thursday. Against the yen, the dollar rose to 105.57 yen .
