U.S. industrial production was flat in January, although manufacturing output remained healthy, a government report showed on Wednesday.
Capacity utilization fell to 79.0 percent from 79.1 percent in December. Wall Street had expected a stronger 79.4 percent capacity use rate in January.
Manufacturing output, the largest component of industrial production, rose 0.4 percent in January, consistent with its December reading.
