Oil Prices Up Before Inventory Report

Oil prices rose Tuesday, the first upward move in four days, ahead of a Department of Energy report likely to show a dip in petroleum inventories.


Light sweet crude for January delivery rose 7 cents to $57.41 a barrel in electronic trading on the New York Mercantile Exchange by midday in Europe. Nymex crude is now around 25 percent higher than a year ago. February Brent crude futures on London’s ICE Futures exchange rose 19 cents to $56.30 a barrel.
