GM Talking to Tracinda About Board Seat

General Motors Corp. confirmed for the first time that it is holding talks with billionaire investor Kirk Kerkorian’s investment firm Tracinda Corp. about a possible seat on the GM board.


Kerkorian, GM’s third-largest shareholder, has spent $1.7 billion since April to amass a 9.9 percent stake in the automaker. GM spokeswoman Toni Simonetti said Thursday the discussions involve “possible representation” on the board. Automotive News reported earlier that GM offered a seat to Kerkorian adviser Jerry York.
