Tribune Cutting Staff 4 Percent This Year

Tribune Co. executives said Wednesday that by the end of the year it will have cut 4 percent of the workforce as part of cost cutbacks.


Chief Executive Dennis FitzSimons said the company will have cut its workforce by 900 jobs, with most of the cuts coming in publishing at such places as the Los Angeles Times, Chicago Tribune and The Sun of Baltimore. Nearly 800 of the job cuts will come from the publishing side. The remarks were made at the Global Media Conference in New York City.
