The company had a provision for loan losses of $1.1 million, versus a provision of $600,000 in the prior year. Total assets rose 27 percent to $1.5 billion on June 30 from $1.3 billion on Dec. 31. Net interest income, before provision for loan losses, increased 64 percent to $15.6 million from $9.5 million a year earlier.

, the Culver City-based holding company for Alliance Bank, reported net income of $1.4 million (19 cents per diluted share) for the second quarter ended June 30, compared with $746,000 (11 cents) for the like period a year ago.

The company had a provision for loan losses of $602,000, versus no provision in the prior year. Total assets rose to $538.3 million on June 30 from $345.8 million on Dec. 31. Net interest income, before provision for loan losses, increased to $5.7 million from $3.2 million a year earlier.

, a Torrance-based developer of drive systems for hybrid and electric-powered vehicles, reported a net loss of $528,000 (1 cent per diluted share) for the second quarter ended June 30, compared with a loss of $602,000 (1 cent) for the like period a year ago. Revenues rose to $1.3 million from $718,000 in the year-ago period.

– NBC Universal

, whose NBC network fell to fourth in television ratings from last season, plans to reduce costs such as snacks for meetings, office equipment purchases and travel expenditures, the Hollywood Reporter said. The cost cuts include a review of the real-estate holdings owned by the network and other parts of NBC Universal, and may include a sale of its 44-acre complex in Burbank. NBC Universal Television President Jeff Zucker will send the cost-cutting memo to employees later this month.

said a subsidiary company was awarded an $88 million, five-year contract to provide data collection services to the U.S. Army. The Pasadena-based engineering services firm will collect and coordinate data on a wide variety of automotive, combat and electronic equipment at the Aberdeen Proving Ground in Maryland.
