Washington Mutual Inc. hired Gary Kishner as southwest regional public relations manager at its downtown Los Angeles office. Kishner was previously senior account manager with the Pollack PR Marketing Group in Los Angeles.

Pasadena-based IndyMac Bancorp Inc. promoted Richard H. Wohl to president of IndyMac Bank F.S.B. and Frank Sillman to chief executive of IndyMac Mortgage Bank. Wohl previously was senior executive vice president of IndyMac Bank and chief executive of IndyMac Mortgage Bank. Sillman was chief executive and executive vice president of the Mortgage Professionals Division of IndyMac Mortgage Bank.


DBS Bank Ltd in Los Angeles appointed Rosie Jen as senior vice president and head of corporate banking and Russell Sun to senior relationship manager. Jen previously was vice president in the international bank division of US Bank, where she was responsible for marketing. Sun was formerly regional vice president of EastWest Bank in downtown Los Angeles.


U.S. Bank in Los Angeles has promoted Edward Kim to market president. Kim previously was a commercial banker with the company.


Biotechnology
Amgen Inc. in Thousand Oaks promoted David R. Parkinson, vice president of oncology development and commercialization. Parkinson was formerly vice president and head of global clinical oncology at the company.


Consulting
Korn/Ferry International, an executive search firm, hired Maggie Habib as marketing specialist based at the company's Los Angeles headquarters. Habib previously served as client executive at the public relations firm Burson-Marsteller in Los Angeles.


AlixPartners, an international corporate financial advisory firm, has named David Peck director in its Los Angeles office. Peck was a senior manager with A.T. Kearney's consulting practice at the company's Costa Mesa office.


RBZ LLP, a Los Angeles-based CPA and consulting firm, promoted Cindy Chu and Hyun Ji to managers. They were previously senior supervisors. Dean Bower was promoted to senior supervisor.


Government
Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger appointed Solomon Hamburg of Encino, Anna Wu of Los Angeles and Thomas Mack of Manhattan Beach to the Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment. Hamburg is a partner at Tower Hematology Oncology Medical Group. Wu and Mack are professors in the department of preventive medicine at the University of Southern California.

Herbalife Ltd. in Los Angeles appointed Steve Henig as chief scientific officer, with responsibility for the company's product research and development function. He formerly was senior vice president, technology and innovation at Ocean Spray Cranberries Inc. in Lakeville, Mass. The company also promoted Gregory L. Probert to president and chief operating officer.

Alschuler Grossman Stein & Kahan LLP in Santa Monica has hired Thomas Cleary as a partner in the transactional department. Cleary was previously a partner in the Los Angeles office of Bingham McCutchen's Private Equity and Emerging Growth Co. practice groups.


Dykema Gossett PLLC hired J. Kevin Snyder as a member of its litigation practice in the Los Angeles office. Snyder previously was with Robins Kaplan Miller & Ciresi as head of the Los Angeles office's business litigation and intellectual property practices.

Richard-Marshall Fine Flooring Inc., a Los Angeles-based manufacturer of solid wood antique-finished flooring, named Sam Hirsch president. Hirsch was previously a vice president with Blackstone Group in New York.


Media
Exodus Film Group in Venice named Jerome Williams senior vice president of business development. Williams most recently worked as the regional director for T.D. Jakes' MegaFest 2005 in Atlanta.


The Cannery, a media company in Burbank, promoted Alan Hellard to president and senior creative director. Hellard was formerly vice president in charge of the creative direction of the company.


Fandango in Los Angeles appointed Bethany Ellis as director of human resources and Bruce Budkofsky director, East Coast Advertising Sales. Ellis previously was the national director of human resources at Screen Actor's Guild in Los Angeles. Budkofsky was formerly account executive for the Weather Channel and Weather.com in New York.


101communications, a Chatsworth media company, promoted Tracy Cook to associate publisher of ADT and enterprise systems. Cook was marketing director of application development trends.


The Los Angeles Daily News in Woodland Hills named Jeannine Antus Koncar vice president of advertising. Koncar was previously vice president of advertising for major accounts in the Los Angeles Newspaper Group, which includes the Daily News. L.A. Newspaper Group also promoted Karalynn Gregory, Renee Knight and Liz Hamm. Gregory is now vice president of major advertising after serving as director of major advertising. Knight was senior account executive and will now be advertising manager. Hamm, formerly research manager, will be research director focusing on strategic initiatives for both the Los Angeles Newspaper Group and Los Angeles Daily News operations.

The Board of The Los Angeles Free Clinic has appointed Marilyn Barrett to a second term as board chair. Barrett is a partner in Van Etten Suzumoto & Becket LLP's corporate and tax department. Four new members have been added to the Board as well: Lisa Gritzner, vice president of Cerrell Associates Inc. in Los Angeles; Norair Jemjemian, assistant administrator at Kaiser Permanente in Los Angeles; Michele Kipke, associate director, Saban Research Institute at Childrens Hospital Los Angeles; and Kenneth E. Neisser, director for professional education at IFF Advisors LLC in Irvine.

NAI Capital in Torrance hired Peter Donnellan as a vice president based at its South Bay office. Donnellan previously was associate vice president at the South Bay office of Colliers-Seeley.


Marcus & Millichap Real Estate Investment Brokerage Co. in Encino promoted Jonathan A. Weiss to managing director. He was formerly senior vice president and regional manager of the company's Encino office.

United Online Inc., a provider of consumer Internet subscription services based in Woodland Hills, named Matt Wisk executive vice president and chief marketing officer. Wisk was previously senior vice president and chief marketing officer at TiVo.


Calabasas-based Interthinx, a provider of fraud prevention and decision support tools for the mortgage industry, hired David Subar as chief information officer. Subar was formerly chief technology officer and chief information officer at PeopleLink in Los Angeles.


Electro Rent Corp., a Van Nuys-based company that rents and leases personal computers, promoted Meryl Evans to vice president of administrative and information services. Evans was formerly manager of information services.


Safeshred Co., a Commerce-based confidential document and product shredding company, named David Jones vice president of sales and marketing. Jones was previously director of business development for Purpose Marketing in Alhambra.
