Crude Prices Dip on U.S. Supply Report

Oil prices settled lower in uneven trade Wednesday as the market weighed concerns about rising gasoline demand against U.S. government data that showed increases in the nation’s crude supply and refining activity.


Light, sweet crude for May delivery settled at $55.85 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange, a decline of 19 cents. In London, Brent crude futures fell 17 cents to $55.27 a barrel on the International Petroleum Exchange.
