DirecTV Inc. appointed David Hill as president of its new entertainment group. Hill is currently chairman and chief operating officer of Fox Sports. John Suranyi was appointed president of DirecTV sales and service and Bruce Churchill was named president of DirecTV Latin America and new enterprises. Suranyi was previously executive vice president of customer satisfaction, and Churchill was previously chief financial officer for the DirecTV Group and president of DirecTV Latin America. Mike Palkovic, chief financial officer for DirecTV Inc., was named chief financial officer for the entire DirecTV organization.
Yeahronimo Media Ventures Inc., a provider of digital media services and software with offices in Century City, appointed Michael Koridon chief financial officer and executive vice president. Koridon most recently worked as chief financial officer and executive committee member of Stockholm's ICA AB, a retail group.
Optimist Youth Homes and Family Services, a Highland Park-based education and treatment center for at-risk teens, named Hillary Alexander director of development. Most recently, Alexander worked as a consultant and independent grant writer for various nonprofit organizations.
David Nobs was elected to serve on the board of The Giving Back Fund, a national public charity that aims at increasing philanthropy among celebrities. He is currently general manager of Rogers & Cowan, an entertainment public relations firm.
Mark T. Drooks was named president of the Bet Tzedek board. Drooks is a partner at the Los Angeles firm of Bird, Marella, Boxer, Wolpert, Nessim, Drooks & Lincenberg. Bet Tzedek provides free legal services to low-income Los Angeles residents.
AvalonBay Communities Inc. promoted Larry Scott to senior vice president of development for Southern California. Scott was formerly regional vice president of the company's operations in Southern California. AvalonBay develops and manages apartment communities in the United States.
Lowe Enterprises Inc., a national real estate management, investment and development firm, named Tim Bolton, Matthew W. Walker and Thomas W. Wulf shareholders of the company. All are based in Los Angeles. Bolton is senior vice president and director of construction for Lowe Destination Development. Walker is senior vice president of Lowe Destination Development. Wulf is senior vice president and development manager for Lowe Enterprises Real Estate Group.
Heidi Shyu was appointed chairwoman of the U.S. Air Force Scientific Advisory Board. She is vice president and technical director at Raytheon Co.'s Space and Airborne Systems.
